What is the meaning of “hours worked”? 
 

The term “hours worked” is the number of hours that a worker actually spends working. Hours worked are what wages are based on. Hours that are not worked or “hours not worked” are not covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This means that holidays, sick days, or any day that a worker is off from work are not counted as hours worked.
