Pollman’s Cake Decorator
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a bakery or kitchen environment
- Excellent cake decorating skills including spatula icing and piping techniques i.e. florals, foliage, borders, hand-writing, etc.
- Have an understanding of color theory as it pertains to blending buttercream colors and creating complementary palettes
- Ability to apply proper technique when using all icings, including Buttercream, Cream Cheese Icing, Whipped Cream, Chantilly, German Chocolate Icing, Fudge Icing, etc.
- Ability to work in a timely manner through multiple tasks and prioritize orders
- Ability to communicate clearly with fellow staff and customers about our products and orders
- Able to learn and adapt quickly under pressure
- Team oriented
- Ability to follow directions and procedures
- Effective time management and organization skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Capable of standing for long periods of time
- Ability to use and operate tools and equipment including deli scale, etc.
- Basic knowledge of computers, email, point of sale system
Responsibilities
- Performs all duties related to cake, cookie, tart, pastry, and special-order decoration
- Creates aesthetically pleasing custom design cakes including wedding, birthday, holiday and more
- Create special order cake designs based on customer’s specific preferences
- Capable of making different kinds of icing, frosting, and cake fillings to order
- Learn and understand our current processes and decorating techniques to ensure orders are completed on-schedule with the highest level of quality
- Completes production and spoilage records, adjusting production records to maintain sufficient inventory
- Maintains a clean and sanitary environment at all times in accordance with health department standards
- Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
- Performs other tasks as assigned by managerial staff, including cleaning, packaging, etc
Details
- Full time and part time positions available, Tuesday - Saturday from 8am - 4pm
- $14-16/hr based on past experience and skill level
- Must be able to work some minor holidays
- An individual must demonstrate successful performance in their current position before being considered for promotion
