Job Title: Lead Mixologist - Bar Manager
Job Summary:
The Lead Mixologist will be responsible for crafting innovative cocktails and overseeing bar operations at Bond Cocktail Lounge, an exclusive venue opening in November 2024. You will lead a team of bartenders, develop seasonal menus, and ensure the highest standards of service and quality. As part of the opening team for this high-end lounge, you will help create a unique and memorable experience for guests in a sophisticated, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily bar operations, including opening and closing procedures, cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain liquor licensing and ensure that the bar follows local alcohol distribution laws.
- Use point-of-sale systems and bar management platforms to track sales, manage inventory, and monitor costs.
- Manage compliance with food and beverage hygiene policies and ensure all staff follow them.
- Handle equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure smooth operations.
Team Leadership & Staff Management:
- Hire, train, promote, discipline, or terminate bar employees as necessary, including bartenders, barbacks, and wait staff (if applicable).
- Build staff schedules and ensure appropriate staffing levels during peak hours and special events.
- Lead, mentor, and develop bartenders, ensuring top-notch customer service and drink preparation.
- Delegate tasks effectively and maintain a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Cocktail & Menu Development:
- Create and execute innovative, seasonal cocktail and mocktail menus, while maintaining and documenting drink recipes.
- Select and purchase liquor, mixers, and other bar supplies, ensuring that the bar is always well-stocked.
- Prepare and serve cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages to customers as needed.
- Collaborate on decor and provide input on marketing, including social media and other forms of publicity.
- Advertise daily, weekly, and monthly promotions and provide input on overall bar marketing strategies.
Financial & Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain bar inventory, controlling costs and reducing waste.
- Initiate and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Stay within budget and continuously look for cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality.
Qualifications:
-Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a mixologist or bartender, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Education: Certification in mixology or bartending preferred. Familiarity with local liquor laws and licensing.
Skills:
- Expertise in crafting cocktails and creating new drink recipes.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and marketing skills.
- Knowledge of bar management software and point-of-sale systems.
- Experience managing budgets, tracking sales, and maintaining inventory.
Work Environment:
This role requires a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The Lead Mixologist & Bar Manager must be comfortable in a high-energy, fast-paced environment while balancing creativity, operations, and team leadership.
