POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sports Event Chef will be responsible for preparing and grilling food on-site, ensuring high-quality, delicious meals. This role combines culinary skills with excellent customer service, as the chef will interact directly with the athletes, provide a memorable dining experience, and maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and grill food items following BEO.
- Ensure all food is cooked to the highest standards, maintaining both taste and presentation.
- Manage grill stations, ensuring the proper cooking temperatures and time management for various dishes.
- Interact with athletes in a friendly and approachable manner.
- Answer questions regarding the menu, food preparation, and ingredients.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while providing exceptional customer service.
- Ensure all food safety guidelines, including proper storage, handling, and cooking temperatures, are adhered to.
- Maintain a clean and organized cooking environment, including regular clean-up of grill areas and utensils.
- Ensure that all food preparation and serving areas meet health and safety standards.
- Set up, break down, and maintain cooking stations before, during, and after events.
- Ensure that food is served promptly and efficiently, even during peak times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in a fast-paced culinary environment, particularly in grilling and outdoor cooking.
- Experience in a client-facing role is a plus (e.g., catering, food trucks, etc.).
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure in a dynamic event setting.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate grilling equipment and other cooking tools.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred and considered a plus.
- Ability to stand for long periods, work in hot environments, and lift heavy items (e.g., grill equipment, food supplies).
- Friendly, approachable, and customer-oriented.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a variety of weather conditions and event types.
