Your Role
As a Sales Associate/Paint Specialist at Owenhouse Ace Hardware, you will be responsible for:
Customer Service Responsibilities:
- Providing a positive and helpful customer experience, ensuring every customer leaves satisfied.
- Proactively assisting customers in solving problems, especially related to paint selection, color matching, and coatings.
- Greeting customers as they enter the store and thanking them upon departure.
- Demonstrating a friendly and approachable demeanor to build strong customer relationships.
- Assisting customers with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.
- Addressing customer complaints and forwarding unresolved issues to management.
Paint Specialist Responsibilities:
- Managing and maintaining the Paint Zone (Paint area) ensuring it is clean, organized, and stocked.
- Assisting customers in choosing paint colors, explaining color theory, and offering expert product recommendations.
- Mixing paint, stains, and coatings accurately and efficiently to match customer requests.
- Maintaining tinting machines and equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
- Reordering paint mixing supplies and color chips as needed to keep inventory well-stocked.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues that may arise during the paint tinting process.
- Cleaning up any paint or solvent spills that may occur within the store premises.
- Staying updated on the latest paint products, trends, and industry best practices.
General Store Responsibilities:
- Assisting with receiving, stocking, and pricing of merchandise throughout the store.
- Ensuring the sales floor, stockroom, and outdoor merchandise areas remain clean and orderly.
- Helping with merchandise resets and updating product displays.
- Assisting department specialists with price changes and special orders.
- Monitoring store security and preventing shoplifting activities.
- Participating in store meetings and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and service skills.
Register Operations:
- Performing accurate cash register transactions, including counting back change to customers.
- Ensuring checkout lines are cleared quickly and efficiently.
- Adhering to store programs and promotions that require implementation at the cash registers.
- Assisting with bagging and packaging of customer purchases.
What We’re Looking For: (Full time or Part time)
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Retail experience preferred but not required.
- Customer service experience preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in retail paint or a related industry required.
- Ability to differentiate minute color variances and understand color theory.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs., and climb.
