Position Requirements::
An experienced Cook at Elviras Mexican Grill will have excellent food preparation and cooking skills.
They will know the different methods for chopping vegetables, dividing meat, filleting fish, and
combining salads, herbs, and spices. They will know how to portion dishes and work with precision
to bring recipes to life. Knowledge of the safe and proper methods of operating different kitchen
appliances and utensils is required.
- Cooks need stamina to work long hours in a fast-paced kitchen. They also need to be able to lift heavy objects and collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to meet client and executive expectations.
- Elviras Mexican Grill Cooks will collaborate with staff to prepare meals and will be expected to work several stations at a time during their shift. You must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, creating meals with complex recipes.
- A successful Elviras Mexican Grill Cook must be great at multi-tasking as they’re often given several preparation tasks to complete at once. They should also be effective team players as they’re usually working on a preparation line collaborating with many other Cooks and Chefs.
- A Cook demonstrates great organizational skills, as they’re responsible for keeping their space tidy and ensuring the kitchen is fully stocked and ready before their shift begins.
- At least two years of cooking experience
- Excellent kitchen administration knowledge and ability to work as part of a team
- Strong organization and active listening skills
- The ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 50 pounds at a time
- Exceptional time management skills
- Cooks at Elviras Mexican Grill will plate dishes and complete basic food prepping tasks for the restaurant and catering. Primary duties include preparing and cooking food on a specific station, cleaning up prep areas and making sure the kitchen is stocked.
In addition, Line Cooks will:
- Assist with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations, and helping other teammates in different kitchen sections
- Prepare food, including cleaning and cutting ingredients, and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks
- Plate prepared foods based on Chef’s guidance
- Work with Sous Chefs to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
- Wash and clean the kitchen and cooking utensils, and store the equipment at the end of shifts, meeting the Executive Chef’s requirements
- Ensure kitchen operation procedures and hygiene always meet food safety standards and regulations
- Be on time for your shift and dressed in the correct, clean uniform--
