Zooba is now hiring Line Cooks for our Nolita restaurant.
We are introducing an expanded menu of the tastes of Egypt to Manhattan with full dine-in service. Experience cooking and plating Egyptian, Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cuisine in a restaurant setting is a plus.
The Job Details
- Prepare menu items on the line according to recipe specifications and standards.
- Rotate kitchen stations mastering the line, expo, and grill/fry stations.
- Plate and package orders according to specifications.
- Service all dine-in, take away and delivery requirements on the line.
- Set up, organize, break down and clean workstations; apply a ‘clean as you go’ approach.
- Operate, maintain, and properly clean all food service equipment and all surfaces.
- Prepare and package catering orders for delivery.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Service orders quickly and accurately to meet order output times.
- Picks up the pace when things get hectic
- Jump in wherever needed (food preparation, dish pit, porter, guest requests and questions)
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experienced line cook able to handle the line, grill/fry and expo stations
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to stay calm and productive under pressure
- Basic knife skills
- Familiarity with operating a POS system a plus
- Familiarity operating kitchen equipment
- NYC DOH food protection certificate a plus
- Completion of high school diploma
- Able to stand for an 8-hour shift (with break) and lift 50 lbs
- Flexible schedule required (morning, evening and weekend shifts)
