POSITION SUMMARY
4Roots Interns will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in diverse areas of the 4R Foundation. The focus of each internship will differ, matching students’ educational focus with the business needs and offerings. The vision of 4Roots is to collaborate with the community on solutions to address the broken food system, which requires a multi-prong approach. In this vein, internship opportunities may be in education, farming, agriculture, construction, grant writing, nutrition or other areas related to the realization and development of the organization. Details of respective internships will be determined on an individual basis. Internships are temporary programs running for 12 week intervals, requiring a minimum of 18 hours per week. Each intern will report to the supervisor of their designated area of focus.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Must be a student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Student’s major needs to be in a field related to the targeted internship, such as, but not limited to, environmental science, biology or agriculture.
- Passion and appreciation for an established culture built on principles of charity, hospitality, goodwill, servant leadership, kindness, humility, and integrity
- Friendly, bright, approachable, and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well independently and with a team.
Preferred:
- Ability to operate light farm machinery.
- Previous experience with farming and/or agricultural methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Position Functions and Duties
Each position’s duties will vary based on the focus of the particular internship. Generally, the function of the intern is to be open and eager to learn, and to apply their education to what they can contribute to the team during their time with the company. The focus of each internship and what the intern will be exposed to will be outlined in separate documents respective to each internship.
