Dietitian/Educator for The Culinary Health Institute

ABOUT THE CULINARY HEALTH INSTITUTE (CHI)

The Culinary Health Institute’s mission is to raise awareness of the impact of plant forward nutrition and lifestyle changes on human health, with a focus on education, research and patient outcomes.  It should be noted that this is a newly created position and the job duties listed here are not all-inclusive and are expected to grow and change as the position is established and developed. This is a full-time position, but candidates with part-time availability of at least 20 hours per week will be considered.


Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered Dietitian with a graduate degree and  a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience. 
  • Proven professional writing skills for preparing nutrition education for different education levels
  • Passion and appreciation for an established culture built on principles of charity, hospitality, goodwill, servant leadership, kindness, humility, and integrity.
  • Dynamic personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills with consistent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to travel beyond the local community on occasion and work occasional nights and weekends as required for special events.
  • Basic knowledge of plant-forward nutrition.

Preferred:

  • Experience with educating school-aged children.
  • Comfortable with educating others in plant-forward nutrition.
  • Ability to analyze recipes (using food processor or related technology) to assess nutrient and macronutrient composition and understanding appropriateness in disease states, or willing and able to learn how to.
  • Graphics experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Power point)

Position Functions and Duties

  • Build a recipe portfolio that is plant forward, created by nationally recognized chefs, that is beneficial to different medical conditions.
  • Create plant forward meals that are medically tailored to positively impact patients with medical conditions, and that can be delivered to homes.
  • Recipe analysis (using food processor or related technology) to assess nutrient and macronutrient composition and understanding appropriateness in disease states
  • Build education programs to emphasize the impact of nutrition and lifestyle to keep the body healthy:

>               Written education syllabi to multiple levels of education to include:

                  Elementary school age

                  Middle and high school students

                  Community

                  Medical school education

                  CME/CEU education

  • Create and facilitate educational programs for:

                  >               Community culinary events

                  >               School children

                  >               Research interventions

  • Host culinary programs for community, school-aged kids, students
  • Clinical work; potential role for working with patients as part of the prevention/integrative/lifestyle medicine clinic.
