A Payroll Processor is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions for an organization. This role involves managing various aspects of payroll, including calculating wages, taxes, and deductions, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and employee satisfaction by processing payroll efficiently.
Payroll Processing:
- Calculate and process employee salaries, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
- Process payroll adjustments, such retroactive pay, overtime, and special payments.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure accurate calculation and timely remittance of payroll taxes, including federal, state and local taxes.
- Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
- Generate and submit payroll tax reports to appropriate government agencies.
Record Maintenance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as needed.
Compliance:
- Stay informed about changes in labor laws, regulations, and industry standards related to payroll.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as legal requirements.
Customer Service:
- Respond to employee inquires regarding payroll issues, tax questions and other related matters.
- Provie excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Audits:
- Participate in internal and external audits related to payroll.
- Prepare documentation and reports for audit purposes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in processing large payrolls or multiple payrolls for multiple locations.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and labor laws.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in using payroll software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
