Responsibilities for Go-Kart Mechanic Assistant
- Go-Kart Fleet Maintenance: Perform assigned duties to inspect, clean, maintain, service, and perform basic repairs on go-karts to ensure optimal performance and safety. Complete repair logs and daily checklists. Perform regular checks at each track for “quick fixes” to minimize downtime and alert management of significant issues.
- Track and Pit Maintenance: Regularly inspect tracks and pits for any safety or operational issues; assist team to complete maintenance or repairs, as needed.
- Engine Maintenance: Replace and maintain spark plugs, clean and replace air filters, check, fill, and change oil, check and maintain drive and fuel systems.
- Safety Inspections: Inspect go-karts routinely for safety, including seat belts, kart control system, rider seat and safety padding, steering, tires and brakes.
- Tires and Brakes: Inspect for wear and remove, mount and replace tires; perform basic brake servicing and repairs.
- Safety Compliance: Apply and update safety stickers, ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Park Opening/Start-up: Assist with daily go-kart inspections and startup procedures, including driving karts for safety inspection and pulling cords to start engines.
- Seasonal Assistance: During the off-season, assist with track and ride operations, following all guest service and safety requirements.
- Park Projects: Support management with various park projects as requested.
- Shop Organization: Keep maintenance shops, mechanical spaces, and back areas clean and organized.
- Inventory Management: Follow inventory management systems and notify management when parts are running low.
- Safety Standards: Adhere to OSHA, local health and safety codes, legal regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Equipment Care: Proper use and care of company equipment and facilities.

Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions for Go-Kart Mechanic Assistant
- Physical Activity: Standing or sitting for long periods, walking, using hands and fingers, handling objects, reaching, bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, talking, and hearing.
- Lifting Requirements: Regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
- Track Attendant Duties: Push/pull go-karts with guests, including on inclines.
- Environmental Exposure: Moderate to high noise levels, various weather conditions (including outdoor summer heat and winter cold), dust, and particles. Exposure to gasoline, diesel, and other automotive fluids; Exposure to various chemicals used in engine repair and maintenance, including solvents and cleaning agents.
- General Workshop Environment: Work in a well-ventilated garage or workshop environment, and working in confined spaces.
- PPE: Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and masks when necessary.
- Tool Use: Strength, coordination, and dexterity to use tools for maintenance, towing, and equipment operation.
