Overview

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing every step of the construction process, from planning to completion, while ensuring that all work is delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will manage equipment and materials required on multiple projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards, code compliance, quality, and safety.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Accountable for:

  • Ensuring all work on site is installed per project scope while adhering to industry standard means and methods as well as jurisdiction code and compliance, quality, and safety.
  • Performing material take-off.
  • Coordinating with jurisdiction utilities companies and inspectors.
  • Requesting purchase orders.
  • Performing job walk with the inspector.
  • Training Apprentices, Laborers, Foreman, and Journeyman.
  • Managing all field people, processes, and tools.
  • Ensuring field personnel have the appropriate tools to complete the project.
  • Evaluating construction methods and determining the cost-effectiveness of plans and actual work.
  • Verifying all field personnel have appropriate safety and equipment training certifications.
  • Delegating project manpower.
  • Providing technical information to the Project Manager for RFI's, change orders, submittals, operation and maintenance manuals, etc.
  • Maintaining awareness of the project budget and identifying cost savings.
  • Determining and communicating all necessary project permit needs.
  • Fostering relationships with General Contractors, Owners, and Stakeholders.
  • Facilitating site logistics to include ordering and tracking conxes, water, heavy equipment, safety, access, parking, etc.
  • Communicating task progress, coordination, site logistics, and safety with the General Contractor.
  • Communicating task completion for inspection scheduling.
  • Attending project meetings to include Kick-off, Coordination (internal and external), weekly subcontractor on-site, post-job, and project review meetings.
  • Acting to document and communicate the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites to the Jet Management team.
  • Planning all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion.
  • Supervising field crews.
  • Ensuring field personnel complete and submit project forms on time.
  • Procuring project equipment and materials per the project scope and schedule.
  • Coordinating constructability and compatibility with other trades and building systems.
  • Reviewing and pricing project documents for changes such as bid drawings, ASI’s, etc.
  • Documenting job walks with project status photos.
  • Regularly visiting projects to assess performance, safety, progress, and quality.
  • Attending design meetings.
  • Inventoring and managing all equipment, materials, and supplies for construction on the job site.
  • Ensuring all safety and environmental policies of the company and project owners are followed by all project personnel.
  • Communicating project manpower needs with the Jet Management team.
  • Coordinating project activities across multiple teams and ensuring project deliverables are completed on schedule and meet quality standards.
  • Maintaining a daily accounting for work completed in coordination with the project schedule and scope.
  • Responsible for maintaining the project schedule.
  • Monitoring project risks and developing contingency plans for mitigation.
  • Tracking project labor hours/budgets.
  • Tracking project material budgets.
  • Attending corporate project status meetings.
  • Ensuring field personnel have the appropriate installation equipment and materials.
  • Scheduling inspections.
  • Ensuring field personnel have the appropriate documentation to complete the project.
  • Reviewing and tracking project schedules.

Trade Specific Duties/Responsibilities

  • Train fitters and helpers in all aspects of the installation of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Possess knowledge of piping systems materials and their properties.
  • Possess knowledge of pipe fabrication practices and procedures including welding, brazing, and soldering.
  • Should be familiar with various types of fittings.
  • Possess the ability to apply arithmetic skills to work-related situations.
  • Must be able to interpret schematics, drawings, and other mathematical charts.
  • Employ safety measures while installing fire safety systems.
