Summary:

The Service Technician L4B is responsible for diagnosing and performing vehicle repairs and maintenance work as assigned and in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.


Position is 100% on-site.


Essential Duties include the following; however, other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Carries out a variety of vehicle repairs from, but not limited to, oil changes to rebuilding a vehicle again.
  • Diagnoses cause of malfunction and perform repairs, as needed.
  • Document all work performed and findings on repair orders and inspection sheets.
  • Duplicate and document the guest concern. Document diagnostic test with results and the equipment used to isolate the cause. Document the correction and verify the repair.
  • Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
  • Road tests vehicles to quality check work performed as required.
  • Examines vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Maintains communication with Service Advisor/Assistant Service Manager (ASM) if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promise time.
  • Completes all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
  • Achieves the production objectives set by management.
  • Provides the administrative assistance necessary to complete warranty repair orders and other tasks assigned by management.
  • Maintains communication with Parts Department on status of parts.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
  • Maintains assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Maintains a high level of grooming, hygiene and uniform appearance.
  • Performs other specific administrative functions as directed by the service management.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:


(1) At least (6) years of Honda dealership technician experience, plus at least four ASE Certifications below; or (2) at least 7 years of equivalent technician experience plus all ASE Certifications below or equivalent current off-brand manufacturer certifications (for example, Toyota, Lexus, Acura, Ford, GM, Kia, Hyundai, etc.).


ASE Certifications: All ASE certifications below are required if Technician does not have at least 6 years of Honda (manufacturer) experience. Technician with at least 6 years of Honda experience must have at least 4 of the ASE Certifications below or must have current "Honda Master Certification."

  • Brakes (A5)
  • Heating & Air Conditioning (A7)
  • Suspension & Steering (A4)
  • Engine Repair (A1)
  • Engine Performance (A8)
  • Transmission/Transaxle (A2)
  • Manual Drive Train & Axles (A3)

Individual will must also possess:

  • Maintain factory required certifications and trainings.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; federal, state, and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste and mathematical principles (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying and percentages) and application.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles; determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, and legal documents, and coordinate activities with other employees.
  • Pay attention to detail, read, and comprehend instructions and information in the English language.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.

  • Stand for long periods at a time.
  • Frequently bend, stretch, twist, or reach with their body, arms, and/or legs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects and use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs.

Compensation

Base Hourly Rate of $16.00 plus bonus compensation based on individual productivity, which can range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any upper limit.
