Supervisor – Rental & Service (LPW) 

Reports directly to: Assistant Store Manager – Customer Service Lead


Position Overview

The Rental & Service Department Supervisor oversees all aspects of rental and service operations at Kabelin Ace Hardware. This role requires a dynamic leader to drive sales, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain efficient and profitable operations. The ideal candidate will embody the company’s core values and exemplify what it means to be “The Helpful Place,” providing leadership and support to staff while ensuring that rental equipment is safe and in excellent working order.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership

  • Drive sales to meet and exceed targets.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to streamline rental processes and improve operational efficiency, including implementing new software or technology solutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in rental equipment to provide informed recommendations for equipment purchases and improvements.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize potential liabilities related to rental equipment use and maintenance.
  • Delegate responsibilities and tasks to teach and empower associates.

Oversight of All Rental Activities

  • Manage and monitor daily rental operations.
  • Drive rental and service sales while ensuring efficient and profitable operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Supervise the rental desk to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Resolve any customer issues promptly.

Staff Scheduling and Management

  • Assist in scheduling rental and service-specific staff.
  • Ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and special events.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for rental department staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.

Rental Equipment Maintenance and Inventory Management

  • Develop and oversee a process for rental items to be checked by mechanics.
  • Ensure rental items are safe and in working order before returning  to inventory.
  • Coordinate with mechanics for regular maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of rental equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs.

Pricing and Inventory Recommendations

  • Analyze rental equipment usage and market trends.
  • Recommend pricing adjustments.
  • Evaluate the rental fleet for investment in new equipment or retirement of outdated items.
  • Monitor competitor pricing and offerings for competitive rental rates and services.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all rental equipment meets safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols for staff and customers.

Parts Ordering and Inventory Management

  • Coordinate with the Customer Service ASM to order necessary parts for servicing rental equipment.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure timely repairs.
  • Monitor parts usage and inventory to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure the availability of critical components.

Compensation

$13 - $15 / hour. This is a full-time position at 40 hours/week (some evenings & every other weekend required).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Possess a valid in-state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Previous retail merchandising experience preferred. Hardware experience preferred.
  • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 40lbs) and climbing.
