Lumber Yard Associate’s Daily Expectations:

Hardware and fulfilling our customers’ needs with top notch assistance is always a
priority. Teamwork and clear communication are required for consistent workflow and
safety. The Lumber Yard associate is responsible for sorting and racking lumber
according to grade markings and size. They often operate a forklift to assist in moving
and loading materials and products. This position is very active and requires standing,
walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing in the outdoor elements. The
employee will frequently lift and/or move items weighing 100+ pounds based on the
customer and store needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load and unload lumber and building materials.
- Load merchandise on to store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer
- Assist with unloading deliveries, as necessary
- Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise
- Organize, stack, and maintain inventory in the yard.
- Operate forklifts and other equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Answers questions, identify and direct customers to building materials and
- merchandise in the lumber yard
- Reads work order, invoice, verify proof of purchase and/or follow oral instructions to determine materials needing moved and/or loaded
- Operate forklift, electric pallet jack or truck to assist in loading or moving merchandise and materials
- Complete daily forklift inspections and filling propane tanks
- Adhere to Loss Prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures
- Safety awareness of anything in store or on property that may be hazard to employees or customers
- Effectively communicates with customers and team
- Operate power saws for lumber & plywood cutting.
- Additional duties, as assigned
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record.
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Ability to lift 100 lbs. repeatedly.
- Forklift operation may be required (training/certification provided if necessary).
- Basic knowledge of lumber and building materials.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety minded.
- Must be available as needed including weekends. Store hours are M-F 6am-6pm/Saturday- 7am-5pm/Sunday-9am-4pm
