JOB DESCRIPTION


The Banquet Captain is responsible for the smooth and efficient execution of events. This includes overseeing and managing all aspects of service, including packing and delivery, setup, service, and post-event cleaning and breakdown. They coordinate with kitchen staff and

oversee a team of servers managing all event logistics, including confirmation of pack lists

for both kitchen and service have been checked, managing delivery, and ensuring an

excellent customer experience. This position requires a passion for service combined with excellent problem-solving skills. The person who will thrive in this position is calm under pressure, never losing site of the customer experience. They will have a strong ability to multi-task and stay organized in ever changing environments and have strong leadership abilities.

The Banquet Captains report to the Service & Event Manager.


DUTIES


• Review Banquet Event Order (BEO) in advance of event. Understand all aspects of

event including client’s vision.

• Pre-event meeting with Service & Event manager.

• Coordinate transportation with Service & Event manager. Oversee delivery of all

required items to offsite events.

• Confirm rentals and ensure rentals are delivered according to rental agreement.

• Confirm packed items, including service items, food, and equipment.

• Manage performance and quality of service team. Ensure breaks are taken according

to state and federal law.

• Train new service team members, as needed.

• Organize and oversee set up of tables and chairs, place settings, banquets, service

stations, and bars as needed.

• Ensure that event space is always safe and free of hazards.

• Protect and maintain all equipment and wares. Complete inventories and checklists

per company policy.

• Manage guest experience during event. Communicate any needs, problems, and

concerns to Service & Event Manager in a timely manner.

• Assist with packing and staging as needed.

• Ability to perform any service position as needed.

• Complete administrative tasks as directed by Service & Event Manager.


REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE


• 1 year of full-service, off-site catering required, 3 or more preferred.

• Ability to stay organized, especially during peak business.

• Strong ambiguity, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to maintain composure through high stress and peak business.

• Excellent, consistent attention to detail.

• Very strong verbal communication skills.

• Ability to coach and train team members of all levels.

• Current driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Current Food Handlers Card (Oregon).

• OLCC License.

• SERV Safe certification within 60 days of employment.

• Maintain a professional work appearance.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


• Ability to stand for up to 10 hours.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Work in various weather conditions, including summer months and outdoor sites.
