Maintenance Supervisor

 

Position Summary: Supervises the day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Maintenance, or Administrator to assure that our facility is maintained in a presentable, safe and comfortable manner.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years maintenance experience required, and
  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills with solid understanding of building maintenance, repairs, refurbishments, cleaning and safety
  • Professional communication skills – ability to remain kind and calm in all work-related situations.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and troubleshooting skills - repairing washers/dryers, heating/refrigeration units, ice machines, minor plumbing and electrical issues, painting and carpentry is required
  • Basic computer, office equipment and facility maintenance tool knowledge
  • Proven knowledge of various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Meets the physical requirements of the position (standing on ladders, working on light, bathroom and other fixtures and appliances, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, etc. throughout the workday)

Responsibilities:

  • Inspects facility regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance
  • Prepares weekly maintenance schedules, allocates work /manages employee workloads
  • Recruits, hires, trains and supervises maintenance assistants and housekeepers
  • Coordinates employee schedules and daily cleaning and maintenance activities
  • Oversees repairs and ensures that work is completed accurately and on time
  • Maintains all department tools, inventory and equipment, ensuring proper storage
  • Conducts safety training, inspections and may lead safety committee
  • Manages department budget, secures quotes for work and recommends vendors and strategies to meet needs
  • Responsible for leading and preparing for state surveys
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Follows all company policies and regulations that pertain to the industry
