Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
POSITION SUMMARY:
You will perform a variety of duties designed to improve strength and mobility as directed by a Physical Therapist (PT). You will help patients become independent by using therapeutic procedures to administer manual exercises, instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients with non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report significant changes in the patient’s condition (physical or emotional), safety concerns, unusual occurrences, and adverse effects of medical devices to the physical therapist or nurse manager promptly
- Utilize physical agents, including but not limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage as directed in plan of care
- Observe, record, and report to the Physical Therapist, Clinical Manager, and Health Care Provider, the patient’s treatment and respond on a timely basis
- Direct and aid patient/CG in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training
- Provide and document services in accordance with applicable State, Federal, Medicare, Medical regulations and standards and third-party payer guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in this state
- At least one year of work experience under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist
- Must have a vehicle, a valid current driver’s license, and automobile insurance
- Ability to make home visits and provide physical therapy evaluations and treatments in the home environment, complete documentation effectively and submit in a timely manner.
- Home Health and Home Care Home Base documentation experience preferred
