OPENING FOR FIRST AND SECOND SHIFT WITH WEEKENDS
Position is located at a home improvement store. The gate attendant is stationed inside a guard shack at the entrance to the lumber yard at the store. The lumber yard is self- service, but gate attendants are responsible for checking customers in/out, guiding the customer to the location of an item if needed, confirming they have their correct receipt, and that they leave with the correct amount of merchandise. Amongst the customers entering the gate, there will also be contractors and vendors entering the gate to deliver or pick up merchandise. Candidates should be able to handle being around the public and deal with the public in a retail setting. Candidates must have the knowledge and ability to utilize a tablet properly and efficiently. Math skills are also needed to be able to count the merchandise. Gate attendants will be prone to being caught in the elements, due to having to leave the guard shack to check customers' vehicles and receipts. The gate attendant must remain in the guard shack area while on duty, unless relieved by a store team member for your restroom breaks. While employees at this site are gate attendants, they are still security officers. They still have the overall objective to protect the client’s premise from the hazards of fire, theft, accidents, vandalism, trespassing, and other damaging influences, both internal and external, maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, as well as all other client specific duties.
