Position Overview
The Server Manager at the Drum & Quill Historic Pub is responsible for leading and developing our front-of-house team while ensuring exceptional guest experiences that honor our establishment's historic legacy. This role directly supervises servers and hosts while working closely with kitchen staff to maintain seamless service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of servers and hosts to deliver legendary hospitality
- Create and maintain server schedules while ensuring appropriate staffing levels
- Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance service standards
- Implement and maintain service protocols that blend modern efficiency with historic charm
- Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement
Guest Experience
- Set and maintain exceptional service standards throughout the front-of-house
- Actively engage with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve any concerns
- Preserve and share the pub's rich history through authentic guest interactions
- Monitor dining room operations to maintain an inviting, historic atmosphere
- Handle special events and reservations with attention to detail
Operations Management
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service execution
- Maintain inventory of service items, uniforms, and front-of-house supplies
- Assist in developing and implementing service procedures and standards
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and safety standards
- Assist in financial operations including cash handling and shift reports
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of restaurant service experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing service teams
- Strong understanding of food and beverage service standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- ServSafe certification and applicable alcohol service certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in historic or fine dining establishments
- Knowledge of beer, wine, and craft cocktails
- Background in hospitality management or related field
- Familiarity with restaurant POS systems
- Understanding of local food safety regulations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds
- Able to navigate stairs and move through busy restaurant environments
