Memory Care Director
Sundale Senior Living offers assisted living to seniors. Our goal is to bridge the gap between independent living and standalone assisted living solutions for seniors.
As the Director of Memory Care, you are the dementia expert in the community. You are a resource for staff and family as related to dementia care and supporting those living with dementia. You are responsible for planning and coordinating a calendar of person-centered resident activity programs that meet the specific needs of each resident in or Keepsake Gardens neighborhood. This person ensures resident and family satisfaction and motivates residents to function at their highest level of independence.
Qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of direct hands-on dementia/Alzheimer’s resident activity programming experience.
• Minimum 2 years management experience.
• CTRS or Certified Dementia Practitioner or Certified Montessori Dementia Professional preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of technology including computer skills.
• Flexibility in work schedule.
Essential Responsibilities
• Management of all Keepsake Gardens life enrichment staff and caregivers. This includes the day-to-day management, hiring, any needed coaching, and counseling or corrective action as needed. Completing job performance evaluations. Developing and maintaining a monthly work schedule for the life enrichment and caregiver team to ensure the needs of the residents are met.
• Design a 7-day week person-centered activity program that engages each resident and meets the needs and interests of the residents. The calendar promotes the 7 domains of wellness in a dementia-friendly setting and includes having simultaneous small-group programs for those who cannot benefit from the larger group.
• Conducts cognitive assessments for residents to develop service plans related to care and programming.
• Assists Marketing in giving tours as needed in Keepsake Gardens.
• Collaborate with community leadership in planning, and coordinating special events such as holidays, family night, educational and marketing events.
• Serves in Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation.
• Effectively communicates with the Resident Care Director and Resident Care Coordinator any medical needs or changes of the residents.
• Effectively communicates with, educates, and offers support to resident family members as needed.
• Maintains and adheres to the department's monthly budget and expenses.
• Manages volunteers for Keepsake Gardens.
• Plans and schedules programming events outside the community (according to the abilities of each resident), which may include driving the community bus.
• Performs personal care, housekeeping, and dietary responsibilities as needed.
