MyCHN is a nonprofit organization providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy services to communities in the South Houston and Gulf Coast area. We were founded in 2008 with one provider, three exam rooms and a big dream. Today, we have over 100 providers and more than 15 locations. Job Summary:
The PRN Pharmacist ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for Class A and Remote Pharmacies; compounds and dispenses prescribed medications; provides functional supervision of professional, paraprofessional, and support staff; and performs related duties as required.
The Pharmacist is committed to ensuring a positive patient experience and following PCMH guidelines and principles.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispensing medications, as prescribed by providers
- Monitoring patient drug therapies, advising interventions, and informing patients of any potential side effects
- Patient counseling as required by law
- Completing operational requirements of the pharmacy, including verifying order entries, maintaining records of controlled substances, and charges, and removing expired and/or damaged drugs from the pharmacy’s inventory
- Adhering to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice
- Supervision of pharmacy staff
- Administration of immunizations or vaccines
- All other duties as assigned within scope
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Detailed understanding and knowledge of dosage requirements and administration, chemical compounds, and pharmaceutical brands
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and software applications used by pharmacies, such as PrimeRX or other pharmacy software
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels
- Strong team player with a focus on collaboration
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual, ability in Spanish preferred
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or Doctorate in pharmacy or pharmacology.
- Proven experience as a pharmacist
- Valid license to practice as a pharmacist in the state of Texas.
