People Consultant

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR professional to lead people and culture initiatives for over 1500 employees across multiple locations in multiple states. This role will serve as the primary HR representative for the company’s Burger King locations and will be a thought partner for the VP of Operations on all people needs. This role is scrappy and hands-on, with the ability to flex and work both tactically and strategically. The ideal candidate will support the VP of Operations and execute whatever the business needs to ensure successful operations, wearing many hats as a “people expert” in the business. This person must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. They must also possess strong communication and relationship-building abilities, along with the ability to work well cross-functionally and partner with other parts of the business on important tasks/projects.
What You’ll Do: The People Consultant is responsible for completing traditional HRBP and HR Generalist duties for their line of business, in addition to supporting other people and culture-related work. They partner with the VP of Operations to support the VP’s goals, and partner with the rest of the Restaurant Support Center team on initiatives as needed. Essential functions:
- Assist with HR administration, such as processing actions in the HRIS, supporting workers’ compensation and unemployment claims with relevant information, and assisting with employee correspondence.
- Manage employee relations, including investigations, employee questions, and employee complaints.
- Provide expertise in talent management via talent partnership designing, driving, and embedding processes in the organization and monitoring the state of talent. This includes supporting new hires via recruiting and onboarding, supporting succession planning and development, supporting performance management and talent reviews, etc.
- Support hiring efforts as directed by operations by creating flyers, sponsoring jobs, updating the ATS, and attending hiring events.
- Build strong relationships in operations by maintaining a robust in-person presence in the markets. We anticipate this means being in the stores 2-3 days per week. This includes required attendance at RGM meetings, OLT meetings, AC meetings, periodic bench review meetings with DOs, and brand roundtables/convention/leadership offsites.
- Provide general inquiry support – serve as the single point of contact for People items for all employees in the brand.
- Draft talent tools and materials, partnering with HRD on content and Ops Services Mgr on implementation, following up as needed to embed same in the organization.
- Support the success of Burger King Remodels & acquisitions by partnering with a cross-functional team to define the strategy, and rolling up your sleeves to provide tactical support.
- Other duties as assigned.
What Will Make You Successful:
- Experience: 5+ years of HRBP or HR Manager experience in a multi-location environment (restaurant or retail experience preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, HR, or a related field (preferred).
- Proficiency in HRIS and ATS systems required.
- Strong Microsoft suite mastery.
- Understanding of HR and employment regulations, laws, and wage and hour compliance at a local, state, and federal level (including NY, CT, NJ, MD, DE, PA, OH).
- Ability to work on-site in the markets where Rackson operates, including non-traditional hours on evenings and weekends as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills, partnering skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Discretion to handle complex and sensitive matters appropriately and to work independently.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-moving environment.
- UKG Ready experience a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate via phone including hearing and talking. Ability to perform sedentary work such as computer-based work. Ability to utilize close visual acuity such as for creating and analyzing data/spreadsheets, word documents, and graphic designs. Ability to navigate from location to location and to work within a restaurant, standing for up to six hours at a time.
