PEJ Events and Pok-e-Jo’s are looking for experienced people to join our catering team! We are gearing up for a busy event season. Pok-e-Jo’s has been famed for our BBQ in the Austin area since 1979. While we are known for our BBQ, we offer an expansive menu and array of services to our clients. We aim to say “yes!” and our number one goal is to leave all of our clients with a positive, memorable experience!
Who we’re looking for:
- Hospitality professional, well experienced in the catering/events/restaurant industry.
- Comfortable in many roles, jumping in wherever needed
- Friendly, approachable and used to interacting with guests at weddings and other events
- A natural leader and know how to delegate
- An experienced multi-tasker
- Can stand on your feet for periods of up to 10 hours and able to lift 50 lbs. comfortably
- Have reliable transportation to and from our facility
- Comfortable driving commercial vehicles including vans and small to medium box trucks
- Have a valid Class C driver’s license
- Have a valid TABC Certification and Food Handler’s Certification
- Have open availability on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for shifts ranging from 8-14+ hours.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- Starting pay is $20-25+ per hour (Gross hourly pay is inclusive of $16 hourly rate for fully trained event leads, plus event tips and lead bonuses).
- Assists management in maintaining a catering department that promotes excellence, innovation, individual initiative and teamwork. Helps in the growth of the catering department, by adhering to the systems that support the staff and operation.
- Assists in conducting training of staff in proper set up, serving and clean up procedures.
- Ensures all set up and closing duties are completed as assigned; performs set up and closing duties as needed.
- Prepares for events by organizing and packing equipment.
- Will do a walk-through of each event making sure that everything is set correctly and the details match the event order.
- Shall be the point of contact on-site for customers and is responsible for giving direction to the staff and overseeing the event.
- Will ensure that all food and beverage served meets our standards including appearance and presentation.
- All other duties as assigned by the Catering Manager
- This is an hourly position with most events occurring Friday-Sunday.
- If you are the right fit for Pok-e-Jo’s, you will be required to attend a mandatory paid training class. You will then be scheduled for a working trial shift to see what we’re all about.
