Role
The Food Safety and Quality Specialist focuses on the preparation, handling, and storage of food in such a manner to prevent any food related illnesses, maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant at all times, and ensuring all Chick-fil-A food meets quality requirements. Using prescribed systems and protocols, the Food Safety and Quality Specialist will use Chick-fil-A standard operating procedures, the Jolt system, and routine processes and procedures aimed at reducing and eliminating food related health hazards, and upholding excellent food quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Talent
- Educate and train team members on health guidelines, food safety policies, and health codes.
- Oversee all ServSafe Manager Certification training for Back of House (BOH) Team Leaders, Specialists, and Directors and restaurant leaders.
- Create a team of food safety subject matter experts who can act as trainers for their respective areas.
- Develop constructive and corrective strategies to address red-flagged areas in food preparation.
- Observe Team Members and daily procedures to ensure quality control standards are met.
- Coach the team daily on food quality expectations through completion of food safety and quality audits and other systems and processes.
Leadership
- Serve as a member of the leadership team, collaborating to enhance the restaurant’s food safety and food quality culture.
- Set monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for food safety training, scores, and recalibrations.

- Influence team members to become leaders, delegating responsibilities to achieve quality control results together.
- Coordinate and consult with local food regulatory bodies regarding food safety and hygiene.
- Engage with health inspectors and other food safety representatives or auditors to achieve and maintain a 100% food safety score.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all quality control matters, liaising with Chick-fil-A Corporate and third-party agencies (EcoSure, Deloitte, etc.).
Financial Stewardship
- Develop and maintain an inspection-ready restaurant to prevent legal and financial risks.
- Monitor compliance with regulations and policies to reduce financial and operational risks related to food safety and food quality.
- Achieve a food safety score with no immediate/high violations, no repeat violations, and no more than two combined medium or low violations, maintaining high compliance.
Customer Experience
- Ensure Chick-fil-A food meets quality and safety standards at all times through diligent preparation, handling, and storage.
- Participate in quarterly Deloitte audits to continually raise food quality standards, creating a safer and more enjoyable customer experience.
- Look for physical signs of pests or animals that could contaminate the food preparation area, safeguarding the customer dining experience.
- Educate team members to uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards, ensuring the restaurant is welcoming and safe for customers.
Sales/Brand Growth
- Uphold and communicate Chick-fil-A’s quality and safety standards through visibility and commitment to the brand’s reputation.
- Stay updated on the latest food safety practices, creating systems to implement new procedures that bolster brand loyalty.
- Leverage Chick-fil-A standard operating procedures and the EcoLab labeling system to minimize risks, ensuring brand trust.
- Identify and address potential health hazards in product formulations and preparation procedures to reinforce the brand’s commitment to customer safety and high standards.

Additional Qualifications
- Able to work full-time (35+ hours a week) and various shifts per week.
- Must be available to work on Friday and Saturday evenings.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
- Preferred 1-2 years of previous experience in restaurant, cafeteria, quick-service or another food-service environment.
- Preferred associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or other similar disciplines.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours.
- Must commit to the highest Chick-fil-A customer service standards and our promise to guests: the highest quality meals served in a quick, friendly, and clean environment.
