Baker 3 (Sous Chef)
Pay Range: $20-23/hr
Job Summary:
The Baker 3 (Sous Chef) position is a leadership role within the bakery, responsible for overseeing daily production, maintaining consistency, and ensuring that bakery staff meet quality and efficiency standards. This role requires extensive experience in a professional bakery setting, strong knowledge of baking techniques, and the ability to train and mentor junior Team.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily bakery production, ensuring quality and consistency in all products
- Execute complex baking tasks, including laminated doughs, enriched doughs, and specialty items
- Train and mentor junior bakers, providing guidance on techniques and best practices
- Troubleshoot baking issues and adjust processes as needed
- Monitor ingredient usage and assist with inventory management
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper sanitation procedures
Requirements:
- 2+ years of professional baking experience required
- Strong knowledge of bakery recipes, techniques, and ingredient functions
- Ability to operate and maintain all bakery equipment efficiently
- Leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively
Physical Demands:
- Standing for extended periods (up to 8+ hours)
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs regularly
- Working in a warm environment near ovens and proofers
- Some weekend shifts required
