As a Via Roma line cook, your primary responsibility is to prepare high-quality dishes according to recipes and standards set by the executive chef. You'll be working closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient and smooth operations during service hours.
Your tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring as directed by the recipe.
- Cooking: Cook and plate various menu items including appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Follow proper cooking techniques and ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
- Station Management: Manage a specific station in the kitchen (e.g., grill, sauté, fryer) ensuring that all items are cooked and plated according to order.
- Timing: Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure that all dishes are prepared and served in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality, freshness, and presentation. Ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant's quality standards.
- Sanitation and Safety: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations. Keep work area clean and organized, including proper storage of food items and cleaning of cooking equipment.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff, servers, and management to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Inventory Management: Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels, rotating stock, and notifying management of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Menu Knowledge: Stay updated on the menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods. Be able to answer customer questions regarding menu items and dietary restrictions.
- Adaptability: Be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities and customer demands.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to achieve common goals. Support other team members during busy periods and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a line cook or in a similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
