Position Overview
The Restaurant Assistant Manager will play a key role in supporting the General Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of the restaurant. This position requires strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. The Assistant Manager will assist in managing staff, optimizing operational efficiency, and upholding company standards to create memorable dining experiences for our guests.
Extensive contact with all employees and customers of Margaritas Cantina.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Support
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, staffing, and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.
- Monitor the quality of food and beverage service to uphold the highest standards of excellence.
- Address any operational issues or guest concerns promptly and effectively.
2. Staff Management
- Support the General Manager in recruiting, training, and developing a high-performing team.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members to foster a positive work environment.
- Assist in scheduling staff, managing labor costs, and optimizing staffing levels based on business needs.
- Assist in hiring qualified staff for key positions.
- Lead by example and promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
3. Customer Service Excellence
- Assist in ensuring that all guests receive exceptional service and have a memorable dining experience.
- Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a courteous and professional manner.
- Collaborate with the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
4. Financial Management
- Assist in monitoring and analyzing financial performance metrics, such as sales trends, labor costs, and food costs.
- Help identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth initiatives.
- Support the General Manager in managing budgets, controlling expenses, and achieving financial targets.
5. Leadership and Development
- Serve as a role model for the restaurant team, embodying the company's values and standards of excellence.
- Participate in ongoing training and development activities to enhance leadership skills and industry knowledge.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the restaurant.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in restaurant management or supervisory role required.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, including food and beverage service, customer service, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with Toast POS systems and restaurant management software.
- ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training preferred.
