Human Resources Intern
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Human Resources Intern to assist with the development and maintenance of employee handbooks and job descriptions within our operations.
This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in HR functions, particularly in the areas of compliance, and employee documentation. This role will also play a critical role in ensuring that HR documentation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with best practices. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn about
the nuances of HR within PRO Resources and the PEO industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Handbooks:
- Assist in the review, update, and customization of employee handbooks to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
- Support the creation and updating of client handbooks based on industry’s best practices and client needs.
- Ensure all handbooks reflect the client’s business, culture, policies, state laws and legal requirements.
- Conduct research on HR compliance regulations (federal and state-specific) to ensure accuracy in handbooks
Job Descriptions:
- Aid in the development and updating of job descriptions for our many client roles within PRO Resources.
- Ensure job descriptions are clear, accurate, and in line with industry standards
- Work with HR team to collect and analyze job responsibilities and qualifications for different positions.
- Help standardize job descriptions to ensure consistency across industries.
General HR Support and Other Duties:
- Assist in HR projects such as onboarding, employee relations, and policy creation.
- Provide administrative support by tracking changes to handbooks and job descriptions
- Help with data entry, organizing documents, and preparing reports for management.
- Other HR duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with new hires and various departments and work in an organized manner.
· Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple onboarding tasks and ensure a smooth process.
· Strong research skills with the ability to interpret complex information
· Customer/client service driven with a proven track record of working well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
· Attention to Detail: Ability to handle documentation and compliance accurately. Precision in data entry to ensure accuracy.
· Problem-Solving: Ability to address issues and find solutions quickly and efficiently. Strong troubleshooting skills to address system issues and user problems.
· Demonstrated critical thinking skills - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
· Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
· Ability to be adaptable and flexible and open to change.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a setting with multiple interruptions.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Experience with HR software is preferred.
· Familiarity with HR compliance, employment law and labor laws.
This position is located in Detroit Lakes, MN and not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
