JOB OBJECTIVE: The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) is responsible for establishing and directing the organization’s supply chain policies, strategic objectives, and initiatives. Leveraging their expertise, the SCM will develop, implement, and coordinate projects to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and deliver positive operational results. This role manages continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes, inventory controls, and distribution systems, as well as planning and forecasting reliability initiatives. The goal is to amplify the impact of SFC, which is poised for significant growth and expansion.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversee supply chain operations including but not limited to the proper sourcing and procurement of materials, supplies and services for the facility; work with key stakeholders to establish and implements supply chain policies, goals, and initiatives, keeping in line with organization’s strategic objectives
- Work closely with the Sales and Production regarding order flow process by forecasting delays, product issues, or situations that could impact operations
- Collaborates with the operations, production, quality, and sustainability teams to develop effective inventory management and cost reduction procedures
- Drive the development and cultivation of positive business relationships with the company’s logistics customers and vendors and potential new supply chains
- Maintains involvement in supplier and vendor negotiations direct pricing and performance reviews in order to identify service and revenue improvement opportunities and to manage costs
- Drive and facilitate activities that improve coordination and communication within Operations and other departments
- Establishes, analyzes, and coordinates departmental budget estimate, and controls expenditures to administer approved budget, including all related forecasting/planning and review of all supply chain projects to ensure that they are on time and within budgetary controls
- Consistently protects the finished goods inventory assets of the Company
- Oversees all finished goods physical inventories (on hand and staging and to/from production)
- Participate in maintaining compliance with all associated regulatory agencies
Training, Development, and Safety
- Must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and any/all established processes, whether established by their manager, by the company or by law as well as assist with the communication, training, and enforcement of these as they pertain to direct reports and teams you are supervising
- Ensure robust and effective quality and regulatory training programs are maintained and provide coaching, education and training of all SOPs and regulatory compliance procedures for direct reports
- Must work with direct manager and/or Safety Manager, and/or P & C team to help identify and coordinate timely compliance, policy, process, and safety training needs
- Oversee training and development of direct reports, guiding them with positive disposition and exemplary work ethic
- Responsible for performance management and annual performance evaluation process for all direct reports
- Monitor and control rest and meal/lunch period compliance for all direct reports
- Model a culture of safety, consistently work in safe manner and comply with all health, safety, and security requirements that are communicated to you, whether established by the company, Safety Manager, or by law, as well as facilitating the proactive communication and enforcement of safety rules to all direct and indirect report and Company team members that may be visiting in your work center
- Effectively and consistently communicate companywide sustainability goals and manage resources to ensure that goals are met or exceeded
- Remains current with latest and emerging supply chain industry regulations
General Administration
- Participate in meetings including but not limited to all Company meetings, 1:1s with your supervisor, safety meetings, huddles, customer service meetings – as required or requested
- Ensure all areas of responsibility are kept neat, clean, and free of hazards; notify team members of any issues and immediately resolve or communicate larger problem to Safety Manager or other member of management
- Maintain excellent attendance
- Travel to other Straus locations, as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in supply chain management in the perishable food industry, with a demonstrated progression of responsibilities and a track record of accomplishments
- Knowledge of organic certification standards and regulations is a plus
- Management of concurrent projects and initiatives, including planning, cost management, execution, and meeting defined deliverables, goals, and timelines
- Effective leadership capabilities – ability to coordinate and motivate a team to achieve results, with a proven ability in coaching and developing others
- Extensive knowledge with structuring and scheduling month / year end inventory count, and operating a cycle count system of inventory control
- Extensive knowledge of purchasing requirements and experience working with national contracts
- Advanced proficiency inMicrosoft Outlook, Excel, Word, CRM software, HRIS software programs, ERP/Business Central platform, and other relevant technologies
- Exceptional written/verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- This role reports into our Petaluma facility but travels between locations up to 10% of time

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent periods of standing, walking, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers
- Frequent periods of sitting, working on and looking at a computer screen, for extended periods
- Occasional periods of working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
- Occasional periods of climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and turning of the head and torso
- Full organoleptic (sight, smell, taste) as well as audio and vocal senses are necessary to evaluate and make sound decisions on supply quality and other related processes
- The ability to climb and balance is essential
- Ability to withstand temperatures ranging from -20° to 115° Fahrenheit
