Kennel Technician

Rate of payStarting at $14 per hour

Our flourishing dog daycare, boarding and grooming facility in Lake Forest is looking for an

outgoing, enthusiastic and responsible person with the right pet handling skills to join our

team! The right candidate will love working with cats, dogs and exotic pets! With this

specific role as a kennel attendant, you are responsible for everything to do with the health,

happiness and care of our pet patrons! Being a self-starter, paying close attention to detail,

being reliable and having the ability to multitask is a must. You must be able to follow

directions closely and communicate clearly. This position requires you to be outdoors in all

elements. Must be flexible and have reliable transportation. Must be available to work

weekdays, weekends and holidays. We will provide the right candidate with Pet CPR &

Emergency First Aid training and safe off leash play training. Starting pay is negotiable

based on experience.


Responsibilities

• Assist with the care and handling of animals

• Provide excellent customer service

• Maintain a high standard of cleaning and sanitation in pet boarding areas

• Feed and water animals according to their specific dietary needs

• Administer medications or treatment as directed by owner’s car instructions

• Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing and drying dogs

• Exercising pets according to their service schedule

• Provide and maintain a safe space for doggy socialization opportunities in a group setting

• Monitor the health and behavior of animals under the facilities care

• Maintain accurate records of feeding/medication schedules

• Report when a pet’s behavior is abnormal or if there is a health concern

• Sanitizing dirty bedding, dishes, toys, litter pans, etc.

• Restocking supplies


Skills

• Knowledge of basic dog behaviors and body language

• Familiarity with kennel operations and animal care

• Strong communications skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to handle animals safely and confidently, including large/giant breed dogs

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to follow directions closely (written and verbal)

• Strong ability to work independently or as a team

• Ability to remain calm, and level headed with a pleasant demeanor

• Physically able to do heavy lifting (50lbs) and standing for extended periods of time
