Role Overview:
A Back of House Director (“BOH Director”) is one who consistently demonstrates our core values, embraces the Chick-fil-A culture and has a servant’s heart. They have a passion for people and serving others, have strong character, take initiative, understand the importance of details and work with a sense of urgency at all times.
The Back of House Director leads all kitchen elements of the business. Through their competency and warmth, they lead the BOH Team Members in taking good care of each other and our guests. This leader works with the Operator, BOH Director and HR Director to ensure Operational Excellence and 2nd Mile Service is executed. They work with other leaders to maximize the current business opportunity. These leaders protect the Chick-fil-A brand by following Operating Standards.

Back of House Director Responsibilities:
Food Safety:
- Lead a strong food safety culture.
- Ensure Team Members are taught and follow fundamental food safety principles.
- Create, implement, and review food safety systems.
- Ensure the daily Food Safety Checklist is correctly completed each shift.
- Ready EVERYDAY for a health inspection or EcoSure visit.
Food Quality:
- Lead our kitchen in serving great tasting food.
- Follow Chick-fil-A operating requirements are followed to ensure a consistent and high-quality experience for our customers.
- Stay up to day on all Pathway procedures and teach and motivate Team Members to follow procedures.
Inventory Management:
- Control inventory by maximizing SIGNAL.
- Ensure orders for produce, bread, and QCD are placed on-time and accurately.
- Quickly address any issues that arise with long-term solutions.
- Food & Paper cost is reviewed regularly, and controls are put in place with the team to maintain good stewardship.
Operational Kitchen Systems:
- Lead a systems-based kitchen.
- Review and update the Daily Operational Checklist and hold leaders accountable for completion.
- Ensure key restaurant systems are operating effectively: boil out schedule, chicken thaw allocation, frozen bread thaw, LEAN prep, AHA Breading, Mac N Cheese rotation, fileting and rotation, Shared Table food donation, etc.
BOH Facilities & Equipment:
- Responsible for maintenance and repair of all non-guest facing facilities and equipment.
- Teach Leaders and Team Members high standards for cleanliness and provide the resources needed to keep our restaurant clean.
- Ensure all preventative maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly, and annually) is planned and executed to keep equipment operating well.
- Repair or work with outside vendors when equipment isn’t working correctly.
- Purchase all needed supplies and tools.
Team Development:
- The BOH Director plays a key role in the development of Team Members and other Leaders.
- Teach Team Members to be committed, coachable, and aware.
- Improve Team Member behavior through awareness, coaching, and accountability.
- Be aware of opportunities to encourage, teach, motivate, and thank Team Members.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Open availability
- Prior experience as a BOH director, supervisor, restaurant manager, restaurant assistant manager is not required, but is highly preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong people skills with a desire to serve Team Members
- Strong commitment to superior customer service
- Ability to manage Team Member behavioral and performance issues
- Ability to work in a team environment with shared ownership and responsibility
- Understands the importance of executing operational excellence from a guest experience perspective and a business results perspective.
Chick-fil-A Personal Grooming and Appearance Standards:
- Piercings are allowed but limited to ears with simple studs, a single nostril with a simple stud. No other facial piercings are allowed.
- Fingernails must meet health department requirements and not extend past fingertips. No false fingernails allowed.
- Tattoos must not be visible on face or neck.
- Natural hair coloring is acceptable. Dying hair in natural colors is allowed. Dying hair in unnatural hues is not allowed.
- Facial hair- Short neatly groomed facial hair with defined cheek and necklines.

- Have the ability to communicate effectively in English
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have the ability to lift and carry 10-65 lbs
- If hired, must obtain a Southern Nevada Food Handler Safety Training Card within 2 weeks of being hired.
