[SEASONAL] - Feed Office Clerk

PLEASE NOTE: This is a seasonal position for the month of January 2025, with the potential to start in late December based on candidate availability. Individuals in this role will be required to work every day January 7th-January 26th, up to 12 hours per day. Additional work may be available the week following Stock Show, January 27th-January 31st.

Overview

As a member of the Livestock Office team, you’ll play a crucial role in the efficient operations of our Livestock Show. Individuals in these roles will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including facilitating exhibitor check-in and check-out, cashiering, processing feed orders, and collaborating with on-site veterinarians to manage health papers and other essential documentation for livestock movement.

 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and personable, with a strong background in office administration or customer service. This individual is comfortable working around livestock and understands the needs of exhibitors. Candidates should thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and can manage multiple tasks calmly and efficiently.

 

Reports to: Vice President, Rodeo & Horse Shows


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a cashier, handling transactions relating to exhibitor needs and feed/bedding orders.
  • Process feed and bedding orders in the Feed Office, coordinating with the Exhibitor Services team to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation, ensuring accurate data entry and adherence to event policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service to exhibitors, addressing questions and assisting with requests in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Collaborate with other team members/departments to ensure a seamless and positive experience for all exhibitors.

Desired Experience, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience in office administration, cashiering, and customer service is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working with or around livestock and familiarity with exhibitor needs is required.
  • Candidates must be available for early mornings, late nights, and weekends throughout the 16 days of Stock Show (January 11th-January 26th), with shifts up to 12 hours per day.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, with a keen eye for detail when processing orders and paperwork.
  • Candidates must have the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and work both indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in customer service situations.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. 

Working Conditions

National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied surfaces. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with large crowds.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $19.00/hour.
  • Paid sick time offered at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
  • Shift differentials offered – earn more for working nights!
