Carmel Landscapes, a leading landscape contractor in Geauga County and the Chagrin Valley area, is seeking a hands-on Enhancement Supervisor to lead and manage enhancement crews. This role requires a strong leader with extensive landscaping experience in planting, pruning, landscape installations, and site enhancements. Qualifications
- A successful candidate will have a proven track record in landscape enhancement and team leadership, with the ability to oversee projects from planning to execution.
- Supervisory experience in landscape enhancement, maintenance, or installation
- Ability to train, mentor, and manage crews to maintain efficiency and quality
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in the field
- Effective verbal and written communication with clients and management
- Proficiency in truck and trailer navigation
- Operation of landscape equipment, including Bed Edgers, Disc Edgers, Line Trimmers, Hedge Trimmers, Shears, Pruners, Blowers, Backpack Sprayers, Skid Steers, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Hand Trucks
- Expertise in proper planting and pruning techniques (ANSI A300 pruning standards)
- Weed and plant identification (Annual planting knowledge a plus)
- Ability to identify and diagnose plant diseases and pests (Chemical knowledge a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret landscape drawings and site plans
- Experience with chemical applications and accurate measurement of materials
- Ability to delegate tasks and set job priorities
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 51 lbs
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach to job execution
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Direct and manage enhancement crews on residential and commercial landscaping projects
- Ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and with high-quality standards
- Oversee mulching, edging, planting, pruning, and weed management
- Assign tasks, train team members, and enforce safety protocols
- Ensure the proper execution of planting and pruning techniques throughout the season
- Supervise the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides
- Manage minor grading, final site preparation, and enhancement installations
- Conduct tool and equipment maintenance to minimize downtime
- Proactively identify and resolve on-site challenges to maintain smooth operations
- Maintain clear communication with clients and management to ensure satisfaction
- Lead by example, working alongside teams when necessary
- Oversee multiple job sites and ensure timely project completion
- Drive to larger job sites as required
Preferred Experience & Certifications:
- 5+ years of experience in landscape enhancement, installation, or horticulture
- Supervisory or management experience in landscaping preferred
- NALP certifications or equivalent credentials a plus
- Experience in landscape maintenance, softscaping, and hardscaping is a bonus
