A Day In the Life of the YCAP Assistant:
The part-time YCAP Assistant is responsible for tutoring and mentoring at-risk youth. This role is part of the YMCA's Youth Community Action Project (Y-CAP), which provides services and a structured program for children between the ages of 10 and 14, who have been referred through the juvenile court system or the school system. Each child and their family have a personalized treatment plan that addresses their spiritual, physical, mental, and social needs. As a YCAP Assistant, you will play a crucial role in positively impacting their lives. Shifts for this position are Monday-Thursday 2p-7p during the school year and Monday-Thursday from 7am-4pm during the summer.

Responsibilities:
- Be a positive role model
- Assist with schoolwork
- Provide behavioral guidance
- Implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines
- Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child
- Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians
- Maintain required program records, such as sign-in/sign-out rosters
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training
- Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school degree or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
