MBM Hospitality is a busy catering company located in Torrance, Ca offering full-service catering for special events, weddings, corporate events all over Los Angeles and Orange County. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Prep Cook ready to grow with our company at our Headquarters!  The ideal candidate is passionate about food & hospitality, would excel in a fast-paced environment, punctual, work well on a team, positive attitude, able to multitask while working under pressure. 


As a prep cook here at the MBM Hospitality Headquarters Office, you will work under the supervision of the head chef and kitchen manager. Your main tasks will include prepping and cooking ingredients by washing, peeling, and cutting ingredients, measuring and assembling ingredients according to recipes, and storing food properly to maintain its freshness and quality. Additionally, you may be responsible for preparing sauces, dressings, and marinades, as well as cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment.


Prep Cook Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine kitchen tasks.
  • Follow and complete the prep list, in a timely manner, created by Head Chef
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep.
  • Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling food.
  • Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, sweeping, mopping and taking out trash.
  • Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines, including company policies.
  • Perform other kitchen & facility duties as assigned.

Prep Cook Qualifications / Skills:

  • Knife skills: A prep cook should be proficient in using different types of knives and have good knife handling skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques 
  • Organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • A team player with good communication skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • Very good physical condition and endurance
  • Punctual and possess a good attitude
  • Must have open availability Monday - Sunday and ready to work based on scheduled events (not to exceed 40 hours/week)
  • Must have reliable transportation

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Proven experience as a prep cook

Pay: $20 - $24 / hour

Job Type: Fulltime

Schedule: 8 hour shift, 40 Hours a Week, 5 Days a week, Occasional Sunday shifts
