Patient Representative Job Description

Patient representatives help patients make more informed healthcare decisions. They spend their time working directly with patients, interviewing them to identify the problems they’re currently experiencing with their care. The patient representative will use this information to direct patient inquiries or complaints to the appropriate parties within the medical system.

Individuals in this role also spend much of their time explaining the healthcare process to patients and their family members. They might educate the invested parties on a hospital’s policies, procedures, and the administrative tasks they require patients and their families to complete. Patient representatives generally need to have a bachelor’s degree in order to qualify for the position.
