Domestic Helper Job Description
A domestic helper is a service worker who helps out around the home. They provide families with a number of services, including: cooking, cleaning, childcare, and assistance with elderly house members. A domestic helper may also help outside of the home for a family. This can include running errands like grocery shopping or picking up needed supplies, among other things.
Domestic helpers typically live separately from the family that they work for. But some families provide lodging for domestic helpers in partial exchange for the services that they provide. But domestic workers who aren’t interested in this arrangement need not pursue jobs that ask for it.
Domestic helpers need to be reliable and physically fit enough to perform common housekeeping tasks for most of the day. They don’t generally need any special education but do benefit from having previous experience in a similar role.
